India have done quite a few clean sweeps in Test cricket but none of them had the huge margin of 4-0. The last time they did was against England in 1986 and Sri Lanka in 1993. But they were three-match series. This victory may not be as big as the 2001 2-1 in terms of the intensity of performance required but it is the largest in terms of the score difference. Though the Australian team are not the same after the retirement of Ponting, Hayden, Langer and Gilchrist but they are still competitive and India also missed Dravid and Laxman. All the matches were hard fought and Indian young batsmen impressed with high averages. The poor form of Sehwag and Gambhir was a matter of concern but overall it was an awe-inspiring performance. The performance of bowlers was what was the difference between India's performances in the past and in this series. India made 500 runs in the first inning of nearly every match.
